WILL.I.AM's remix of Barack Obama's "Yes We Can" Speech (featuring John Legend, et. al)
Ladies and gentleman, call it superficial if you want to, but Barack Obama has truly galvanized a movement. As an academic, i've been trained to be endlessly cynical and suscipious of mainstream politics and popular culture, but in the moments when these two genres furiously collide I cant help but be interested. I agree with the authors of theculturekitchen.comin their assessment that "the measure of a leader is in their ability to inspire their supporters creatively." I see such a leader in Obama.
Though I am sure that some of my "sophisticated" colleagues will dismiss my support of Obama as blind optimism, I continue to genuinely believe that Obama (if elected) will bring about a new wave of politically rejuvenated creative (black) expression.
Will.I.AM seems to agree. See below.

Call it what you want, but I've watched the video four times and each time I have teared up. I teared up because time finally seems to be catching up with destiny. Yes we can. I have teared up because possibilities finally seem endless. Yes we can. Because a King's dream is no longer deferred. Yes we can.
