Oscar Nominations Announced: Denzel OUT, Ruby Dee IN

Now what did I predict? About a month ago I hinted at, based on the results of the SAG nominations, a nomination for veteran black actress Ruby Dee in the Best Supporting Actress category. Well low and beyond my predictions, my dreams, have come true.
The 83 year old actress received her firt Oscar nomination this morning for her brilliant (albeit too brief) performance in American Gangster.
As for Denzel Washington: better luck next time.
Check out the full list of nominees at the Academy Awards' official site.

That would be great to see Ruby Dee get it but that Best Picture list is a setup and a mess...

A well deserved nomination indeed, but y'all already know Miss Cate Blanchett got that in the bag...

I hope she gets the Oscar. Rudy Dee has been in the acting world since before I was born. She is a true artist and needs to be recognized along with her late husband Ozzie Davis.
