I think i've figured out why I enjoy Leona Lewis so much. She's much better vocally than all of the new school black pop divas , including, most notably Beyonce and Rihanna and she's more "down to earth" and personable. Her vocals are clearly an ode to Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey, but hey, I love pop music, so its all good. In fact, it's been so long since i've actually heard an exceptional female pop vocal album (the last great effort was probably Aguilera's Stripped in 2002) that I get a little excited whenever I stumble across something this good.
My latest find from Lewis is her unreleased single "Forgiveness." I am in love with the horn instrumentation and the crystal upper register vocals. The single appears as the B-side of Lewis' first single "Bleeding Love" but does not appear on the album.
And oh yeah: Spirit, released in November in Europe, has now officially been named the fastest selling debut album ever in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
Is the rest of the world loving this as much as me? Take a listen to "Forgiveness" below.

Love Leona to! Have u seen this site??? www.discoverleona.com
You should listen to Joss Stone's "What were we thinking". I think you may appreciate her voice as well. She's definitely one of my favorites, in terms of vocal skills. I still have that crush, frank.
I have to agree that this girl is it. I've never been a big Xtina fan, but I can see the parallels. You're bang on about the Mariah factor. And spot on about the last time a voice that had the power to "move" was heard on pop radio. Thanks for introducing me to her.
