Race, Sex, Power: Be There.

Race, Sex, Power: New Movements in Black and Latina/o Sexualities

Get ready for the massive conference event of 2008: the much talked about "Race, Sex, and Power" event in Chicago from April 11th-12th. I dont think I can get to the Windy City that weekend, but I'm sure the conference will be a virtual "who's who" of Chicago's growing queer black studies cohort as well as important scholars from across the country. Presenters at the conference will include Cathy Cohen, Mark Anthony Neal, Renee Cox, Rhodessa Jones, Urvashi Vaid, Joycelyn Elders, and Stacyann Chin, among many others.

I'm also pleased to see that there will be a very strong showing among emergent scholars like Mireille Miller Young, Carlos Decena, Edgar Rivera-Colon, and Alexis Gumbs.

Magically, the event is free and open to the public. For further information visit http://condor.depaul.edu/~rsp2008/. You can also view the full conference program by clicking here.
