Positively Aware runs a provocative new article on the house-ball scene based on interviews with on Frank Mizrahi and members of the Chicago chapter of the House of Omni. The article, written by Keith Green, gives a brief history of the house-ball scene as well sharp commentary on the scene's relevance to commentary activist efforts around HIV/AIDs in black communities. The Hetrick Martin Institute, home of New York City's Harvey Milk High School, (a gay high school in Greenwich Village with a black and latino student population of 70%) will be hosting its second annual "Star Awards Ball" this Friday, August 11th at NYU. New York City producer, personality, and Ballroom superstar Jack Mizrahi will commentate the event, which is free and open to the public. Ball starts at 7pm. A sizable audience is expected. *The Gay Men's Health Crisis' House of Latex Project will be holding its feverishly anticipated Atlantic Ball on August 26, 2006. As always, the event is free and open to the public. I have got to attend on of these, next time I visit the States. We don't get to see such creativity and imagination here in Canada. Not that gay people AREN'T as creative but simply because the black gay community isn't that strong. Sad.

Hello Mr.Roberts! I am truly a huge fan! I am an African-American Lesbian female who appreciates absolutely everything that God places in front of me. I am curious to know the name of the lovely Womens Face Diva from the the house of Kahn, that you unfortunately forget the name of. I am a true New Yorker, who is unfortunately living in Florida, and have to rely on the internet,(Frank Leon Roberts), to supply me with some excitement. THANK YOU!!!!!!
