Atlanta's House Ball Scene

with labor day right around the corner, folks are gearing up for Atlanta's house-ball scene

The Southern Voice, Atlanta's major gay newspaper runs a feature story this morning entitled "All in the Family: Black Gay House Subculture offers creative, social outlets
". The article highlights the Atlanta house-ball scene with a focus on lesbian houses. Ryan Lee, the newspaper's Arts reporter does a great job of incorporating the house-ball scene in the specific context of the history of black gay Atlanta. Also, to my knowledge, this article marks the first time the lesbian presence in the house-ball community has been specifically highlighted by a major news source. The article features interviews with members of the lesbian house The House of Buchanan, and me. The magazine also includes a listing of the major balls that will be going during Atlanta's (in)famous Labor Day weekend. (which of course i'll be at). Good stuff, check it out.

looks like ill get a chance to see this for myself hopefully.

I'm celebrating my 1 year blog anniversary today and I've made it a goal to comment on everybodys blog that has ever commented on mine. You were one of my firsts! Thanks for being down with the King!

Psst. The link to the article. It's not working.

I just want to send my LOVE to you Mr. Roberts. I am a lesbian who receives much joy from reading your blog. There is a female from the Khan family, which unfortunately, you always forget her name. She looks very similar to Sanaa Lathan and i was wondering if you could please retrieve her name and inform me of it. Unfortunately i am in Florida, which sucks but most of my family relocated here from the infamous and legendary NYC and i followed. Not many beautiful black women here, so please assist a beautiful family member, much like yourself.
Thank You!!
