By now my faithful blog readers are well aware of the fact that my weight goes up and down like Oprah Winfrey. Graduate school has done ridiculous things to my body—namely, adding unwanted pounds to my face and midsections. In my first year of graduate school I gained 15 pounds. Luckily, last year after trying several home-made, experimental diets, I was able to get down to the weight range I have always been most comfortable with: between 158 and 165 pounds.
Well now I’m back up to 168. Now by all conventional standards I’m still rail thin: I mean after all, considering that I’m 6’0 tall, 168 is pretty lanky. But I’m not happy unless I’m model chic, dammit. Some may call it body fascism, but I just call it what it is: the desire to maintain my youth.
So, now that the summertime is in the horizon, you know what time it is:time for the Pinkberry Diet!
Yes folks, this month begins my return to the Pinkberry Diet. Before Memorial Day Weekend I’m determined to be back down to last summer's 158 pds!

Can you notice the subtle differences? I can.
*Note: This post is not intended as a condemnation of thicker, fuller male body types. Rather, this is a personal reflection on what body type looks best on ME. Much love and respect to my readers who occupy bodies of various kinds: thin, thick, and in-between!
Pun'kin, as you get a little older (in fact, in just a couple years now) your metabolism will slow drastically, and these nutty diets will work much more slowly and less well. And just as soon as you go back to normal eating (having destroyed your metabolism through aforementioned nutty diet) you'll chunk out like a mother. For real.
What to do? What to do? See that your plate has both protein (eggs, yoghurt, meat, etc.) and fiber (vegetables, fruit) at every meal, minimize the carbs (sugar, bread, rice) and take your butt to the gym two times a week. Three or four times, if you want your results on the double. And please back away from the treadmill! Over to the weight stack with you. Here's a site which reiterates this info in depth and specifics, aimed at white women (so it'll appeal to you).

Ah, I remember the pinkberry diet! It seemed to work for you, but for longer-lasting results you should try eating 2-3 small vegan meals a day-- call it the poverty diet. Beans and rice, rice and beans, a few fresh veggies. It works, and you won't have to batle the yo-yo effect.

Good luck, but the difference between 168 and 158 are very subtle.

the pinkberry method doesn't work well for me, but godspeed. Basically I have to cut my calorie intake all around (so usually a hardcore vegan diet), and maintain the cardio workouts as to keep the hunger cues in check. And of course, water, water, water, when the hunger urges hit.

I think you look best in the last pic, honestly. That extra bit of filler makes the facial hair hotter (don't ask me how) and I kinda like my men with a little meat on their bones. Of course, your body, your choice, but you look good no matter what. :D

Hey Frank! I'm a fan of your blog..Very unique in its genre...
I also think you're a sexy man...
So, out of the 3 pix..
I prefer the last one...
The facial hair and fuller face on that picture are winners in my books..

I think you look better with the fuller face and physique as well, to me, the skinner look shows up bags in your face. Just and observation, I love you and your work.

Umm....Frankie dear...its Damian. I know you are ultra-smart and all, but this diet is REALLY dumb. A) skipping breakfast slows DOWN your metabolism. B) The best way to lose weight is to eat more often, not less often--6 small high protein meals a day. C) Perhaps the reason for the yo-yo weight is the yo-yo dieting? I know someone has said this before but when you eat less than the recommended caloric intake it fakes your body into thinking you are starving so creates and stores more fat cells. Then, when you eat anything normal, it actually absorbs far more fat than you would have if you never dieted at all. You are actually doing more damage to your body than you think and when or if you do fall off the diet, that dreaded 178 pounds you reference in the pick could very easily be a dreaded 200 pounds because your body has been so distressed. In a former life I was going to be a surgeon so I read on this alot. The BEST diet:
smaller, more frequent portions throughout the day
45 minutes of exercise
lots and lots of water
Now I'm sure you will diet how you want as virgoes tend to do whatever they want :)...but take heed!
