Lets try this again.

Not to harp on the issue, but I think the pics that I chose for my previous post about my yo-yo weight gain/weight loss were not good examples. Some of you seem to believe that I look "better" at 178pds then at 158.

I want you to take another look. Please get into these pics nice and closely (click on the pics for an up close and personal examination)---look at the stress and bloat in my face at 178pds vs. 158. C'mon now. Ya'll know betta.

Frank two years ago in early 2006 overbloated (178 pounds):

Versus Frank last summer at 158 pounds:

July:

August:
September:

Now ya'll know dam well that 178 range was NOT a good look.

And no need to worry folks. I'd never do anything to harm my body (i.e. anorexia, bulimia, etc.) I'm an absolutely, 100 % healthy 25 year old guy. I just enjoy looking more like a track or basketball player rather than a bear cub. These "before" and after pics just give me the inspiration that I need as the summer rolls around. They also serve as a reminder of why young men in graduate school need to be careful to balance all of those late night library sessions with sessions in the GYM. Thanks for the advice.

Um, got to your blog from...damn can't remember. Anyway, I absolutely love it! I crave good reading like I crave air so this was just what I needed.
I wanted to comment on this post because dammit you are oh so handsome. I love the pics...at any weight.
Anyway, I'll stop blabbing. Nice blog!

My preferance is Frank with a little something something on him, but I would take him anyway, anyhow, anyday just as long as that brain of his is full of stuff! The man is fine no matter how much he weight.

I THINK YOU NEED TO SEARCH YOUR ROLEDEX FOR A PYCHIATRIST TO GET TO THE ROOT OF WHY YOU FEEL THE NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT. IT'S OBVIOUS YOU FEEL OUT OF CONTROL AND ONE'S BODY IS THE ONLY THING SOMETIMES THAT WE HAVE CONTROL OVER. SERIOUSLY, GO TAKE CARE OF YOUR MENTAL HEALTH AND GET BACK IN CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE. YOU HAVE A DISTORTED VIEW OF YOUR BODY...

CORRECTIONS: ROLODEX AND PSYCHIATRIST

ANOTHER OBSERVATION MAN, IF YOU HAD A MORE SHARP, PROMINENT OR A ROMAN TYPE NOSE, MAYBE THAT WOULD MAKE YOUR FACE SLIMMER. BUT I'M SURE YOU'RE PROUD OF YOUR NEGROID NOSE.

Ok, the 1st and 2nd picture of you at 168 lbs are less flattering..Maybe because
(1st pic.A white loose shirt tends to make one look bigger..2nd pic your face is too up-close)..I like the burgundy-shirt picture..Still@168

The other pix @ 158 are HOT..

In any case..You're the one who knows what weight suits your body and makes you happy..Good luck with the diet Frank..

The pics on top are me at 178, not 168.

i prefer you at January 07 168 personally

178 does look better on you, in my opinion. It elicits finger wags and "OOOWWW!!". Not diminishing 158, but you wear it extremely well.

Going to the gym is a positive thing to do to release stress, maintain health, especially getting your Ph.D. But, becoming obsessive is not positive. I realized this weekend that I tell myself I'm fat to keep me going to the gym and everyone is constantly talking about how thin I am, and I'm like, "BUT I"M NOT!!!" Finding more positive motivations to go to the gym, as well as doing anything in life will be more benficial, I feel at least.

It's a subtle difference. You look good either way. But damn, is it wrong I wanna know who dudes in #2 and #6 are? I don't know if these is your boys or what, but damn you know how to pull em.

I was bulimic for several years; I definitely don't qualify to pass comment. After all is said and done, it's still your body and self-image.

Perhaps, we should bring out those dusty scales to see if the short-term gains from an idealized body-type is worth the long-term assault on our health. In the grand scope of things, a skinny desirable body is just a commodity that can be bought and sold. I have seen ugly rich men date (fuck?) the most gorgeous boys in Manhattan. Of course, aspiring to become an old rich troll is itself problematic (disgusting?).

Should we decide to transcend the ephemeral for something sublime like Love, we might reach a disappointing conclusion; Love has little to do with physical perfection. So why bother? As long as we're not obese or unhealthy, why live our lives in an endless diet? Because we want lots and lots of sex? Good enough reason for me.

I think you look good either way. What's most important is how you feel about yourself. You know what works best for you, looks goods, and what feels right. As long as you're not getting crazy or going off the deep end with your weight and maintaining it, everything is all good. As I tell anyone, being healthy should come before being thin. But in any case, you look good man.

Have a good weekend!

I usually can't tell when ppl change weight so feel free to discount my opion lol but i think the upclose pic is the best looking one. You look pretty much the same to me in all of them with the exception of that sink that appears under yr eyes @ 168 (which, as a graphic artist, i would remove if i was retouching yr pic) and @ 178 that's filled out so that's why i prefer that pic.

But I've realised that everyone has their own perception of how good they look which is often very different from what other people think of you so, as always, do you.

Btw, everyone knows that if u're having a discussion about weight the exhibits should always be shirtless if not very nearly naked. :)

haha. oh man, you wanna talk about weight? i used to be 240 lbs and now i'm 165 lbs.

and people are always trying to tell me that i wasn't "that" fat.
even now my mom and i argue about this. haha.

if you wanna lose weight, do it, if not, don't.

i did it because i was tired of going to the stores i liked and not being able to fit in the clothing i wanted. maybe it's silly, but i like the way i look now..
