When else can you see Keith Boykin, Dr. David Malebranche, Maurice Jamal, Frederick Smith, Tim'm West, Buttaflysoul, and lil' ol me--not to mention Vivian Green, Martha Wash, and Deborah Cox---all in pratically one day?

Each year People of Color in Crisis, Inc., (POCC) hosts its Pride in the City celebration to build and affirm the Black Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community in New York City by providing opportunities for cultural celebration, networking, education and awareness, and access to health services while increasing members' connectivity to the community and its resources.
-
This year I have the pleasure of being a featured speaker at several of their events. The week begins this Thursday, August 4th with the second annual Black Gay Research Summit held at the Brooklyn Marriot hotel. Keith Boykin and Dr. David Malebranche are keynote speakers and researchers in a variety of disciplines will be discussing scholarly, social, and medial issues relating to gay black men. On Friday I will be moderating a panel with author Tim'm West and NYU scholar-critic Khary Polk on cultural studies and HIV/AIDS.
-
Then, later that night things really get hot. People you do not want to miss this event on Friday night. There are so many amazingly talented folks that will be at this event its insane. I will be reading from and discussing my forthcoming anthology 'Dancing the Downlow' at around 5:30pm:

Then (yes, there's still more) after the beach held over to The Chocolate Bar for Derrick L. Briggs' party "Touch."

Will you be there? If so, dont be a stranger.
