NUYORICAN POETS CAFE
BLACK PRIDE NYC WEEKEND
all photos by NATHAN SCOTT
after a brief introduction, i got the night started with a few corny jokes & obnoxious shout-outs
staceyann chin graced the stage with a dazzling excerpt from her new off-broadway smash BORDER/CLASH

as we awaited the arrival of author Alphonso Morgan, Director Maurice Jamal took the "hot seat" discussing his black gay film "Ski Trip" (scheduled to appear on MTV Networks' new station LOGO this August) and his forthcoming film Dirty Laundry (co-starring Loretta Divine and Sheryle Lee Ralph)
still waiting for Alphonso, Derrick L. Briggs was next to take the "hot seat" to tell the 100+ crowd about his BOOKS ARE SEXY campaign http://derricklbriggs.com/intro.htm

a fashionably late Alphonso Morgan chilled the crowd with his reading from his debut novel Sons, set in Brooklyn

Hanifah Walidah then received a standing ovation from the packed house for her breath-taking excerpt from her moving play BLACK FOLKS GUIDE TO BLACK FOLKS http://trustlife.net/

The humble and brilliant James Earl Hardy then took to the stage...http://jamesearlhardy.com/

The panelists were all witty, pretty, and gay....

the Nuyorican Poets Cafe agreed with another standing ovation

sexy blogger boys No4Real4Real! and The Prodigal Sun were also in the building

outside of Nuyorican "the boys" gathered for a photo candid

afterwords we all grabbed a bite at MAMA's in the East Village, as our fellow blogger buddy DIVO rubbed elbows (and attempted to land a deal) with Director Maurice Jamal

Producer Nathan Scott (our resident D.J. for the event) also captured the show...

and of course he did a great job....

later than night we all partied hard at LUKE & LEROY---the official new black gay men's hot spot (along with LOBBY on Fridays)

and of course we danced into the wee hours of the night.......

Yo this past weekend was off the hook. You have to see the photos ProdigalSun took. Although he has yet to post them, but we had a great time. Thanks for letting me be apart of your weekend.

Looked like a damn good time...I'm sorry I missed it, but I did send a friend...
