questions, questions, questions
Where to begin? This week is off the chain! So much going on people. First of all, if you are in New York City in the next ten days or so please be sure to check out the always fabulous New York Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. The festival always offers the absolute best in new queer cinema. This Friday I'm going to see this fascinating new documentary "The Aggressives" about butches (masculine lesbians) in the ballroom scene. Go out and support this film!
-
. Here's the synopsis:

New York Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, Friday, June 3rd, 6pm, Loews Theater, 34th st.
The Aggressives (Dir, Daniel Peddle) (75 min, English, NYC Premiere)
"They don’t aspire to be men, and they can’t be called drag kings, though they do participate in NYC’s predominantly African-American lesbian drag balls. This fascinating documentary reveals the lives of a varied group of aggressive women. Homeboy Marquise fosters a masculine image by strapping her chest until suddenly forced to live as a woman after enlisting in the army. Passing as a femme boy, Tiffany doesn’t identify as a lesbian because she only dates transgender men. Raw and uninhibited ex-con Octavia goes from drug dealer to construction worker. Androgynous Kisha balances her aggressive life with a career as a fashion model. The Aggressives is an insightful look at a little explored subculture.

Ok, moving on:
The legendary team of YAMIL/TOMMY/JR have really been stepping up to the plate dishing out more and more sexy, quality Black and Latino men's spaces in New York City. "JR5Productions"--the team responsible for KRASH, GOT2B Tuesday's at SPLASH, HIP HOP MONDAYZ at KRASH (formerly at STONEWALL) & PAPI-LICIOUS SATURDAYS at STONEWALL are now unleashing a hot new Wednesday night party in Chelsea for the brothers. Introducing FRESH:

-
And if this was not enough, on top of that, now AVALON (formerly LIMELIGHT) is now a new Blatino-boy hot-spot. Check out the new AVALON SUNDAYS:

-
If you like KRASH, then you'll love both of these new spots. My brothers, do you understand what this means for us? LoL. It is now possible to serve Monday's at KRASH, Tuesday's at SPLASH, Wednesday's at EUGENE'S, Thursday's at THE CLUBHOUSE, Friday's at KRASH (AGAIN!), Saturday's at ESCUELITA's and SUNDAY's at SEVEN, ESCUELITA, and AVALON. Now who the hell said something about ATLANTA being the hottest brotha-spot? LIES.
-
Alright, now in Frank's personal life:
-
So it's official: I'm getting a roommate! *applause please*. JASON is flying back in next weekend to look for apartments with me in Manhattan for JULY 1ST. Wish me luck, and of course i'll keep you posted.
-
This sucks though, because I'm going to be moving out right around the time of my gig at the Nuyorican Poet's Cafe (and dont think i wont cut a b*itch if ya'll are not there!). I also think I want to organize some kind of little after-the-event get together. What do u think?
-
It's going to be PRIDE and i'll have lil' man (see below) staying with me for the weekend (*smiles mischievously*), so he needs to be entertained. It's his first time in the nyc.

my new gay son: ain't he adorable?
-
Also, a very special shout-out to all of you guys who really support this blog with your constant feedback, advice, and humor! Much love to SMILING, NO4REAL!, HOLIDAY, NATHAN, SHEREALCOOL, TRENT, VALENTINO, ROD, LARRY, PRODIGALSUN, MYPERILOUSJOURNEY, WILL, RYAN-CANTY, POLICYANALYST, THEDIVO, INTELLIFREAK, and KENNY, just to name a few of my absolute favorites that consistently support. Also, I want ya'll to offer a warm welcome to yet another (dam, they just keep coming!) new and fabulous black queer blogger boi: AFRO-HOMO. This brother is truly GRADE SUPER A, check him out.
-
Finally, I've been going by my middle name much more often lately, LEON. Originally this was just my "booty call jump-off" name--you know, that name you give out when someone who u dont know tries to holla at you, but nowadays everyone is calling me LEON instead of FRANK. What should I do? Should I start offically going by LEON--I think its younger, fresher, hipper anyway.... I need to think seriously about this as I continue to publish under "Frank Leon Roberts" or sometimes "F. Leon Roberts." What do ya'll think?
-
Also, if you still, for some terribly ODD reason, have not caught the magnificent BASQUIAT EXHIBIT at the Brooklyn Museum, this weekend is your LAST CHANCE. The show closes on JUNE 5TH FOREVER. This Saturday is the museum's "First Saturday" festival featuring all kinds of wonderful lectures and performances. Try to make it out if you can.
-
And on that, I'm out! Hit me back!
-
So to recap, what do ya'll think about:
Gay Men dating Butch Lesbians
7 nights of clubbing options specifically for black & latino men
Frank moving to Harlem with Jason
PRIDE weekend in NEW YORK
Having a get together shin-dig following the NUYORICAN event
The closing of the BASQUIAT exhibit
From FRANK to LEON
My recent interview with TRENT JACKSON
anything else!!!
-

I hate you! And you know why.

Aiight Frank, (That was a statement and now moving on)
I am glad that you made a decision to have a roomate I think it's economical and stress relieving.
I wish I'd live in NYC to have all those fancy clubs to go to. Darn, all we have here in Baltimore is to ghetto for me to go to anyways. But I would just love to have some contact with quality bruhs.
I will be in NYC in the Next Couple of weeks and I really hope that I can check this flick. Once again, something that I cannot catch in Baltimore.
Speaking of my current residence, I might want to travel up with Lil_man. You will definately need to keep me entertained in NYC too. Cause for some reason 10 years off and on in the city has given me less REAL friends to hang with. (Damn that ex-girlfriend)
Fo sho' there needs to be a Patte' after the Nuyorican Event. Shoot I am going to milk that weekend for all that it's worth. It will be my last free weekend in NYC. The next time I am coming for my Mom's 50th that I am planning @ the Tavern on the Green.
Ok I have bored someone.
So as always in Parting,
I came in Peace and in Peace I leave.

Wow @ butch queens dating Butch lesbians...I have always found this to be a fascinating phenomenon...I can recall being attracted to a particular butch lesbian...She was the cutest "boy" but because she was really a "girl" there was some extra added "excitement" (or for some convenience)...She was like Secret deodorant.."MAN enough for THIS man
but really 'made' for a woman"...lol
Also in my immature mind (at the time) it was a wonderful possibility because my homosexual desires could be partially fulfilled without the adverse social consequences of a stereotypical homosexual relationship..In other words..it's still a QUEER relationship...
But anyways...fascinating work..look forward to reading/hearing/seeing more...

Now you know I always have a comment for everything. So here you go:
Gay/Butch Dating:
I can imagine it but what do you get out of it. Granted I can be attracted to their outer physical but if they don’t have a dick of their (not a strap on mind you) I am good. I say do you. But home girl/boy does have some arms.
7 Club Nites:
I just love NYC. Any day you want it you can have it and it offers options. As a matter of fact I think I might roll out tonight in the city.
Frank/JC n Harlem:
I love it. You know I will be coming through to visit and stay for a spell. As a matter of fact I think I will need a key. I will only come on the weekends. I can camp out in the living room. I will bring my AeroBed. Plus I cook, I know y’all will like that.
Pride Weekend:
I am there as every year. My best friend and I met there so we go every year. Come check us out, we will be the cute ones. I excited to meet SimpleBoy...
Shin-Dig:
That is a must since I won’t be able to make it. I get off work at 3PM...sorry. I really wanted to go. With the shin-dig I can still meet everyone.
MUST HAVE THE SHIN-DIG...MUST!!!
Exhibit:
Damnit! I missed it... No time to go this weekend. Too much going on.
Frank or Leon:
I say go with the middle name. I use mine. Besides Frank is soooo last season. LOL
Interview:
Enough about your over shadowing interview with Trent. Damn it we heard about it enough. Yeah yeah yeah!!!

The movie sounds too interesting to miss, I have to try and check that out. Thanks for the heads up.
Congrats on the roomy. Should help you out a lot. My boyfriend just moved to Brooklyn... been moving him in all this weekend. MOVING IS A BITCH, lol... but I would do anything for him.
Now he has to return the favor, when I head out of here.
I'll be at Gay Pride... I might have to show some photos of me and my boys from last year on my blog.
Thanks for having such a wonderful blog to come and converse with you!
