Party (and pray) like its 1999
I often get emails from people asking me where I like hang out. My response is always the same: “It varies.” It’s not at all uncommon to find me mingling in vastly different spaces over the course of one week (or even one night): a ball in Newark, an art opening in Soho, a fried chicken joint in Flatbush, a lecture in Morningside Heights. These spaces all constitute the spatial-elements of who I am and how I flow.
If you’re interested in meeting me in a casual setting, there a few parties that you can probably catch me at over the course of the next week. Almost of them are egregiously queer (next week is, after all, “PRIDE”). So if you happen see me at any of these venues, as always, don’t be shy to introduce yourself (I’m routinely amazed that people are actually shy to introduce themselves to me for fear of a snooty attitude). If you don’t remember my name, you can refer to me as the “Blog boy.” I’ll embrace that phrase.
Tonight (Thursday) I’ll likely be rolling through Club VESTA on 8th Avenue and 30th. It’s free, and I have some friends staying me with from out of town, so it sounds like a good combo. Tomorrow night I’ll likely pass through THE party at MARS2112, which is being hosted by the HOTBOYZ. Saturday I’m looking to forward to my first “Dante’s Fried Chicken” experience in Brooklyn. I’m also planning on trekking up to the South Bronx on Saturday night to check out Charles Jackson’s new club “So.Bro.”
On Sunday morning, I’ll be praising Christ’s name in the Balcony of Concord Baptist Church right in the heart of Bedstuy.
As they say here in Brooklyn, “get at me.”
