Janet's new single. *Yawn*

Janet Jackson's new single "Feedback" was leaked this afternoon, and of course within an hour all of the "children" were/are talking about it.

Are you feelin it? It's aight, but I'm still longing for Janet's mid-nineties grooves. Are we okay with the fact that this single sounds so Britney-like?

Wake me up when this album has crashed and burned.

yeah, aahhmm, a little enthused

Why is Janet Jackson, a 40+ year old woman, trying to compete with the likes of has-been Britney Spears? Janet is not even sexy in that picture. Her 40+ year old azz just looks pathetic. Poor girl.

Actually, the pic used in the YouTube clip is an old promo shot from the "All For You" album. While I agree, the song does sound like something from Britney's new album (its pretty much "Get Naked" Part 2), the Pop/R&B club groove vibe of some of Brit Brit's latest music is nothing more than a straight up swagger jack of vintage Janet.

I've also read comments elsewhere that kids are disappointed that the song isn't "R&B", or "trendsetting". While I agree, I'm also looking at it like "this chick is comin' off of two flop albums and needs a hit bad(ly). The best way to get back on the radio is to come with something that sounds very 'right now'" Once you have everyone's attention, then you can hit them with some real heat, which will hopefully be other tracks on the album.

So yeah, Jan sounds like Britney --- but Britney was impersonating Janet. Hell, I'll take "Feedback" as a first single over the shiteous "Call On Me" or "Just A Little While" any day of the week!

i like it.

For the life of me I can't understand why everyone is being so hard on Janet. Even her last two albums that everyone considered flops still went platinum and spawned hit singles.

Feedback is a hot single that will no doubt put her back on the pop charts. Janet is a living legend. So what she's over 40, she's still sexy, talented, and has a huge fan base.

I don't hear anyone telling Madonna to sit down and stop making music and dance videos and she's older than Janet!

Finally, the Britney/Beyonce/Ciara comparisons need to stop. Janet is everything these girls are working to become. What happened to the days when we respected black artists that have contributed greatly to black music?

amen! u tell them darian. i am lovin the new single

I just wanted to point out that If JJ could actually sing her age would not matter to me. Her attempts to be a pin-up doll and little girl whisper, at 40+ years of age, irritates me. Madonna took singing lessons to prepare for her work in the movie 'Evita', and her performance was better for it. Madonna released the CD 'Ray of Light' a few years back, a revelation as far as I'm concerned, and won several Grammy's. When is JJ going to reinvent herself and show us she is more than a pin-up doll and a whisper. When she does that, I'll forget about her age.

janet will always be janet! if she does one thing she is always compared to someone doing something! i agree that ciara, beyonce, britney has long emmulated janet's style! there could only be one janet period! ya all haters of a girl who is just doing her thing! what did she do to you anyway! The electronica sound is not a patent for one artists! it had been used by artists years before britney, justin and even madonna as well as cher!! the vocoder style was used by ZApp when he hit with the song "Dancefloor!" So every artists have the right to use it! I just wonder why people are so kind to Britney despite all the bad behaviour she has exhibited in the past! I also believe age is not the limiting criteria to creating and releasing new music! Look at the Rolling Stones with the number of crows feet and wrinkle lines on their faces! They are still around and no one's complaining!
