American Idolization

Simone Fuller must be proud. It looks like the big winners of Sunday night's American Music Awards were largely former contestants of FOX's American Idol (a shameless canwebefrank favorite).

Carrie Underwood took home "Favorite Female Artist" and "Favorite Album." Lets not forget that Miss Underwood already has a Grammy. Not bad for a southern country gal.

Chris Daughtry, the fourth place "losing" contestant of the fifth season of Idol was also a big winner, taking home, count em'--not one, not two, but THREE awards: Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Adult Contemporary Artist, and Pop/Rock Album.

The fact that best "Pop-Rock" album is its own category frightens me. But nevermind that.

In other news, Jordin Sparks, the little-miss-perfect winner of last season releases her debut album today. In the latest issue of Rolling Stone, Jordin's album is reviewed quite favorably---the magazine gives the Pop Prince "three and a half stars" and calls her a "perfect American Idol."

The new season of American Idol begins January 15th. We'll be waiting.

But in the meantime, anyone know how Miss Sanjaya is doing? I'm still trying to recruit mama for Drags Face at the next Ball.

ive always speculated on the importance and revelance of this show but after watching the AMAs I understood.
