"I'm the Sh**t."

Loving the two remixes of DJ Class' single "I'm the Shit" featuring Jermaine Dupri and Kanye West. Both versions are huge club-anthems in New York City right now. Everytime this song comes on I have to get my drink and my two-step groove on. Which version do you like better?

Sidenote: Can someone please write a dissertation (or book manuscript) about Baltimore House Music? House music continues to be elided in histories of black popular music (especially non-New York/Chicago house). Any ethnomusciologists in the building, up to the task? Its long overdue.

I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! I'M ACTUALLY LISTENING TO MY FAV... THE JERMAINE & TREY REMIX... BUT I HAVE BOTH!!!!!

OH... I DEF LOVE YA BLOG!!!!! YA 1 OF MY INSPIRATIONS TO BLOG!

ATLANTA IS LOVING THIS IN DA CLUB!!!!!!!!!

I agree about the lack of discussion of house in black music scholarship, and bmore/regional club musics especially. I'm not on that tip myself (focusing on Jamaica).. I did a talk once VERY briefly on the local music scenes focusing on a narrow set of musical pieces, especially samples, but that was more for a discussion of sampling building/representing sonic communities.

but anyway I know an artist by the name of Murderbot out of Chicago who did some work on that in the past (cultural studies rather than ethno).. more on this needs to happen for sure!

I just read your in 5 years time blog, you have, are you near to completing it in your opinion?

I love this song! People are finally starting to play it on the regular.

Kanye's version is the best!
