25 Days to 25

*Sigh.* Today is August 1st. That means I'm just 25 days away from my 25th birthday on August 25th. I'm calling it "25 on 25." I am officially getting old. Soon I'll be closer to 30 than 18. Jeez. Where did the years go? It still feels like only yesterday that I graduated high school in 2000.I keep reminding myself that aging is a blessing, especially nowadays.

But Dam. 25 days away from 25 years old. I feel so unready for everything thats supposed to come next: having kids, buying a house, settling into a "career." Hmm. Judith Halberstam would probably say that "queers" age differently and I should'nt be so focused on following a "heteronormative" aging process. Fuck all that--this brown boy still wants the "American dream," flaws and all.

I had originally planned on having some big, dramatic birthday party in typical "Frank" fashion. But actually, now I just want to bring in the big 2-5 quietly and without much extra-ness.

Ok, thats all I wanted to say. Clearly I'm trippin. Carry on folks.

Peace,
Frank

P.S.
Yes, its true: i've been sucked back into blogging. But only because I had to post essentials like death memorials and ball pics. I'm still considering myself on "blogging break" though.

lol.."officially getting old.." hush child...

if 25 or 30 is old ... 50 or 60 must be near death

I know how u feel frank i turned 25 3 wks ago and i am feeling like how u feel. i wanted to do it up big to for my 25th bday but instead i spent it quiet watching justice league unlimited on DVD yes i am a big kid that still watches cartoons.

Lothaire says honesty is your acceptance ticket. The fact that you understand that life as you call the 'American Dream' has flaws and is flawless means that you are now thinking on a 25 year old level. I am so glad you posted this blog because I think many people feel the same way you do but just don't own up to it. You admission makes you closer to happiness at any age.

stop depressing me! you're turning 25 go out with friends and have fun. enjoy life. Now I should be the one complaining I am 28 and I am more closer to 30. : - o)

Happy Birthday Mr. Roberts!
Here's to my mind wondering what you'll do to celebrate it...
Leos rock ((wink))

I'm glad ya back!!! Keep Blogging!

Boy, forget the quarter life crisis and keep on keepin on! Enjoy your youth. You'll have plenty of time to be old.

I just found your blog randomly - I love it! And don't call it 25 on 25 - it's your CHAMPAGNE birthday. You're so lucky to have it when you're 25 and not have it be a waste like say, when you're 8.
